AI character swap video tools in 2026: what each allows and what a clip costs
9 min read
AI character swap video tools take a clip and a picture of the new character, then redraw the person in the clip as that character. The seven in the table below differ in what their sales pages rarely say: the longest clip they accept, what about ten seconds costs, whether the original sound survives, the languages of the site and how you pay.
Everything here is what each tool publishes about itself, with the source beside it and the date it was read (October 13, 2026). Duble AI is our product, and nobody ran the same clip through all seven, so there is no quality verdict, and the order of the table shows no preference.
Face swap or whole-character swap: what is the difference?
A face swap changes only the face. The body, the clothes and the hair stay those of the person who was filmed. A whole-character swap redraws the person from head to toe: the body, the clothes and the face become the new character's, and that character repeats the movements of the original video. This page is about that kind.
Tools usually sell the two as separate products. Higgsfield has one app for face swap and another for character swap, and Kling lists face swap and motion control as different features (sitemap).
Whichever tool you use, send only videos and faces you have the right to use. Real Xablau, for one, requires permission for a real person's face and bans public figures (its rules).
Seven tools side by side
Where the table says "not stated", the page we read does not answer, and the tool may well do it. Pix (Brazil's instant payment method) appears only where the last column names it; for the other tools it is not stated on the pages read.
| Tool | Longest clip | About 10 s costs (read 13 Oct 2026) | Keeps the original sound? | Site languages | How you pay |

Pro plan shown as $7.99 a month for 80 credits (was $9.99); the page does not say whether that is the monthly or yearly cycle (pricing) | Not stated | English and Simplified Chinese | Subscription in US dollars, also on the App Store; the free plan gives 5 videos a day with a watermark |
| Higgsfield (Genjutsu and Recast) | Genjutsu: one clip of 4 to 30 s; the AI Influencer page says 3 to 30 s for a reference clip. Recast: not stated | Genjutsu, for 15 s: 40 credits at 480p, 104 at 720p and 144 at 1080p, or about $2.00, $5.20 and $7.20 (launch guide, 31 Aug 2026). No 10 s price on the pages read | Not stated | English, with a Spanish version | Subscription in US dollars from $15 a month (Starter, shown as billed annually); the free plan has limited use |
| Magic Hour (Character Replace) | Not stated in its docs | Not stated per clip. Creator plan: R$96 a month (R$60 billed yearly) on the page as opened from Brazil; dollar prices not confirmed (pricing) | Not stated | English | Subscription or credit pack; 3 free generations a day (product page), which may carry a watermark |
| Wan Animate (open model, sold by hosts such as fal.ai and VEED) | Not stated on the pages read | On fal.ai: $0.08 per "video second" at 720p, and a 30 fps source of 10 s is 18.75 video seconds, so about $1.50 ($0.80 at 16 fps). On VEED: the price shows before you generate, with no figure on the page | Not stated | No Portuguese on the hosts read | By the second of video (fal.ai) or by generation, in credits (VEED) |
| Real Xablau (Real Oficial) | 2 to 60 s; over 15 s it is processed in parts | R$10.00 at 480p (R$1.00 a second); the page showed a half-price promotion until 19 Oct, which makes it R$5.00; 720p costs twice as much (Xablau) | Yes: the page says the original audio comes back in the result | Portuguese | Credits in reais, from a plan or a pack, by Pix or card; they never expire |
| Duble AI | 30 s (minimum 3 s) | 20 credits at Standard, from $3.33 on the $49.99 monthly plan (prices) | Original audio for background sound; speech follows the source and can vary | Portuguese and English | Credits, from a monthly plan by card or a one-time pack (by card, or by Pix when paying in reais); they never expire; no video is free |
How the 10-second prices were worked out
- Kling: 10 seconds at 9 credits a second is 90 credits on Motion Control 3.0 in Standard mode (Professional is 12 a second). The Standard plan has 660 credits and three prices on the page: $10 list, $6.99 for the first month and $8.80 after. The 90 credits come to $1.36, $0.95 and $1.20. Through fal.ai, the same feature costs $0.168 a second, or $1.68.
- Higgsfield: the 40, 104 and 144 credits are for 15 s, as the launch guide states them, and the guide does not say whether the price grows in a straight line with length, so we did not work out 10 s. The dollars follow the rate the guide implies, 20 credits to the dollar.
- Real Xablau: 10 seconds at R$1.00 a second is R$10.00 at 480p, and R$20.00 at 720p. The page says the promotion until October 19 is half price, so R$5.00 and R$10.00 while it lasts.
- Wan Animate on fal.ai: the page bills 16 frames as one video second. A 10 s clip at 30 fps is 300 frames, which is 18.75 video seconds, and at $0.08 that is $1.50 at 720p. At 16 fps the same clip is 10 video seconds, or $0.80.
- Duble AI: 10 seconds at 2 credits a second is 20 credits at Standard. On the $49.99 monthly plan that is $3.33, or $0.33 a second. In the one-time pack "A week of posts" it is $3.75. At High (2K) it is 50 credits, and at Turbo, 60.
What each tool asks for and gives back
Kling
Motion Control takes a picture of a character and a reference video, and the character repeats the video's movement and expression. In version 2.6 the guide asks for a single character in one continuous shot. Video O1 is a different function: it edits a video of 3 to 10 s from text and images, including swapping a subject (O1 guide). Cost and limits are in Kling Motion Control.
Viggle
Viggle pairs a character image with a motion video or a ready-made template, and its App Store listing mentions more than 8,000 templates and a mode, Mix, that puts a character into an existing clip. See the Viggle alternatives.
Higgsfield
Higgsfield puts many models under one account. Genjutsu does motion transfer and object swap from a clip, with output up to 1080p. Recast swaps the character in any video from the video and a clear photo of the replacement, and states neither clip length nor resolution. More in Higgsfield alternatives.
Magic Hour
Character Replace takes a video and a reference image and has two modes, Replace and Animate. The docs mention 480p or 720p depending on the plan.
Wan Animate
Wan Animate is an open model with two modes: Animate, which moves a still image with a video's motion, and Replace, which swaps the person in a video. On the pages we read, the official Wan app shows price and limits only after you log in, so the numbers here come from hosts such as fal.ai and VEED. The comparison with Kling and Runway Act-Two is in Kling Motion Control vs Wan Animate vs Runway Act-Two.
Real Xablau
Real Xablau, from Real Oficial, swaps up to 6 characters per video, from your own images or an app avatar, and also edits the scene and the style. Speech, gestures and camera stay as in the original. The full modes need a plan or a credit pack. There are free tests: three clips of up to 15 s with a watermark, advertised on the home page, and Xablau Lite, of up to 5 s. We found no persistent character that carries from one video to the next, and no trend library, on its pages. Both sides are in Duble AI vs Real Xablau.
Duble AI
On Duble AI you pick your AI influencer (the app calls it a double), described, built part by part, made from your own photos or taken from the cast, and a video: a trend from the library, or a clip of your own of 3 to 30 seconds. The character takes the place of whoever is in it, with the same movement and audio based on the source clip. The whole video is redrawn with the character, so the scene can change a little. There is no box for asking for a new scene and no choice of model, and every video costs credits, which come back if the video fails. The steps are in how to replace a person in a video.
Which one for which job
- A clip longer than 30 seconds, several characters in one video, or changes to the scene and style: Real Xablau accepts up to 60 s, says it swaps up to 6 characters and edits the scene.
- Controlling the image and the movement yourself: Kling and Wan Animate ask for a character image and a reference video that you prepare. Wan Animate is billed by 16-frame video seconds, so its clip price depends on the source's frame rate.
- Ready-made trends, the same character from one video to the next, looks, photos and a product in hand, and the sound kept: Duble AI, which comes in English or Portuguese and takes Pix when you pay in reais. Its limits are 30 seconds, one character you pick per video (it replaces the main person unless you say who), and a scene that can change a little.
Prices change, and Kling and Viggle show promotional ones: those on this page were read on October 13, 2026, so check before you pay.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the best AI to replace a person in a video?
- It depends on the job, and nobody ran a side-by-side test for this page, so we name no winner. Compare four things: the longest clip a tool takes, what about ten seconds cost, whether it says it uses audio based on the source clip, and which languages and payment methods it supports.
- What is the difference between a face swap and a character swap?
- A face swap changes only the face and leaves the body, clothes and hair of the person who was filmed. A whole-character swap redraws the body, clothes and face as the new character's, and that character repeats the movements of the original video.
- How much does an AI character swap cost for a 10-second video?
- From the tools' own pages in October 2026: Wan Animate on fal.ai about $1.50 (720p, 30 fps source), Kling $1.36 at list price ($0.95 first month, $1.20 after), Real Xablau R$10.00 at 480p. Viggle and Magic Hour state no per-clip price. On Duble AI, 10 seconds are 20 credits, from $3.33.
- Do these tools keep the original sound of the video?
- Real Xablau states that it returns the original audio. On Duble AI, background sound uses the original audio, while speech or singing follows the source and can vary. Check each provider's own description before buying.
- Is there a free AI character swap video tool?
- Some have a limited free tier. As of October 2026, Viggle lists 5 free videos a day with a watermark, and Magic Hour lists 3 generations a day that may carry a watermark. On Duble AI no video is free: making the AI influencer costs nothing, up to 3 images, and every video costs credits.
