Brazil's AI influencers: Marisa Maiô, Lu do Magalu, Dona Maria and the Vector account
5 min read
Brazil's best-documented AI and virtual influencers are Marisa Maiô, an AI-generated host who fronted ads for Magalu and OLX in June 2025; Dona Maria, an AI avatar that is the subject of a filing at the electoral court; Lu do Magalu, a virtual character of the retailer Magazine Luiza; and an account that, according to the newspaper O Tempo, puts Vector from Despicable Me into other people's videos.
Most sources are in Portuguese, and the quotes are our translations.
Who is Marisa Maiô?
Marisa Maiô (maiô is a one-piece swimsuit) is the host of a fictional auditorium-style TV show that exists only as AI-generated video: a woman "in her 60s" in high heels on a bluish stage, according to Consumidor Moderno on June 10, 2025. Canaltech on June 9, 2025 says she always appears in a black swimsuit. Content creator Raony Phillips, from Rio de Janeiro, made her with Google's Veo 3, which creates films of up to eight seconds from text descriptions.
The first brand came four or five days later. Magalu's Valentine's Day video aired on June 7, according to Canaltech (Meio & Mensagem says June 8): in it, Marisa reveals that her swimsuit came from Magalu and promotes products from the store for the occasion. Aline Izo, the company's senior marketing, branding and communication manager, told Canaltech that Magalu was quick to include Marisa Maiô in its campaign strategy.
On June 11, 2025, OLX published a video of Marisa giving a tip to people shopping for a car, per Meio & Mensagem on June 12, 2025. None of the articles consulted says what the brands paid. How a post like that has to be marked as an ad is covered in AI influencer brand deals.
Is Lu do Magalu an AI influencer?
Lu is the oldest of the group. Magalu created her "as a voice for" its e-commerce site, according to Mercado & Consumo in April 2023.
The sources read for this article do not say what technology makes Lu, so this page calls her neither AI nor 3D. She belongs to the company, and the company is the one advertising through her. No source we read says what she earns. Kolsquare says AI influencer earnings vary widely and are hard to benchmark, partly because many creators do not disclose them.
What is Dona Maria, and what was filed with the electoral court?
Dona Maria is the AI avatar of an elderly woman who criticizes the Lula government and Supreme Court justices, among other topics, according to BBC News Brasil, republished by O Povo on April 21, 2026. On April 22, 2026, the PT, PV and PCdoB parties filed a request with the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) to suspend the profiles, to identify those responsible and who monetizes them, and to declare the content illegal, alleging among other points AI use without identification, according to Terra on April 27, 2026. Terra reported only the filing, and this page has no court decision to report.
What is known about the Vector account?
The newspaper O Tempo, on October 8, 2026, in a report about Jean Phil, says creators, among them a Brazilian account based on the character Vector from Despicable Me, began using AI to "appear" in videos of Virgínia Fonseca, Ana Castela, Livinho, Jon Vlogs and other well-known people. The report raises questions about copyright and use of image, and points out that the recording, acting, dance or editing the scene came from still belong to third parties. It also says courses promising to teach how to replicate viral AI videos have started circulating on social media.
No source we could open confirms this account's follower count, its start date or its tools, and this page gives none. The Vector videos have an article of their own.
What is known about the money?
| Profile | What is known | What the sources do not say |
|---|---|---|
| Marisa Maiô | Ads for Magalu and OLX in June 2025 (Canaltech, Meio & Mensagem) | What the brands paid |
O Tempo warns that millions of views do not automatically turn into revenue, especially when many creators start making the same kind of content at the same time. More numbers, and their caveats, are in how much AI influencers make. Cases from outside Brazil are in AI influencers that went viral in 2025 and 2026.
Can you build a Brazilian AI influencer with Duble AI?
Yes. In the app the influencer is called a double: you describe it in a sentence, put it together part by part, make it from your own photos or take a ready-made one from the cast, and it goes into an Instagram or TikTok trend in place of whoever is in it, with audio based on the source clip. A trend video starts at $3.33. How to create an AI influencer walks from the description to the first posted video.
The cast has figures with a well-defined identity, like Marlene Volume, the building manager and lead singer of the band.

Duble AI refuses requests that involve politicians, parties and campaigns. Its terms allow another person's image only with their permission, and never a celebrity's. Label the post as AI-made content where the platform asks. To make your own, start here.
