Duble AI vs Canva: character replacement or a finished design?

3 min read

Canva fits a video that needs a title, layout and final edit. Duble AI fits a performance you have already recorded and want to give to an AI character. You can use both: change the character first, then finish the post in an editor.

This comparison is published by Duble AI. We reviewed Canva's official documentation on November 1, 2026; we did not run a quality benchmark or test its paid features. The decision here concerns the documented workflow.

What does Canva add to a video?

Canva's AI video editor page documents automatic clip assembly, text overlays, a timeline and generation tools. Those features cover several stages of making a post, rather than one particular visual change. Check availability in the plan and interface you intend to use.

For example, a small business may need a product title on screen, an end card and a consistent layout. That is an editing and design brief. If the presenter should instead become a recurring fictional character while performing the same action, the brief also needs character replacement.

Your task Workflow to evaluate Decision to make first
Assemble clips with headings Canva Sequence and message
Put your character in a recorded performance Duble AI Source performance and character
Add an offer card after a generated clip Both, in sequence Final copy and placement
Invent a shot from a description A generation tool documented by Canva Desired scene and model access

The Canva page reviewed does not establish a dedicated equivalent to Duble AI's saved-character replacement flow. That is a limit of this comparison, not a claim that every Canva app lacks it. See the wider AI video tool directory for other workflows.

What goes into Duble AI?

Duble AI starts with a library trend or your own recording of 3 to 30 seconds. Your character changes who appears. The scene and performance come from that video; the result retains the original recording's sound. Duble AI does not generate new speech, music or a scene from text.

Choose the source carefully. If a joke depends on a gesture that never happens in the recording, adding a title afterwards will not supply that gesture. Record a clearer performance before spending credits. The person-replacement guide explains this starting point.

How to combine the two

  1. Write the post's one main message. Decide what the performance must show and what can be text.
  2. Record a short, well-lit clip with room for the final headline. Avoid placing the face where interface controls will cover it.
  3. In Duble AI, choose your character and upload the recording or select a trend.
  4. Review the whole output with sound. Save the generated file before opening your editor.
  5. Add titles, a cover or an end card in Canva if those are part of the brief.
  6. Check that the final edit still makes sense without sound, then check it again with sound for accidental duplicate audio.

Keep an untouched copy of the generated file. If the final layout needs changing, edit the design rather than paying for another character generation. The social video format guide covers framing decisions that begin at recording time.

Compare costs by the completed job

A design subscription and a character-generation charge are different units. Check Canva's current plans for the features you need; this page does not quote a temporary offer or assume an existing subscription includes every AI feature.

Duble AI uses paid credits. Standard video consumes 5 credits per second, and a ten-second Standard clip uses 50 credits. Character preparation and final editing are separate steps. Read Duble AI pricing before choosing the purchase that fits your production.

Pick Canva when the central problem is organizing and presenting content. Pick Duble AI when it is changing the character in footage. For a branded character post, use the replacement result as one asset in the final design, then review the export and publish it yourself.
